Senior healthcare executive and strategic leader of transformational change, driving performance in value-based care
Lisa M. Trumble is a dynamic and highly successful senior health care executive with extensive experience leading and transforming organizations, driving financial performance, and creating strategic partnerships. She articulates a clear vision and strategy, translates strategy into purposeful plans, and successfully executes. She is a decisive leader who achieves organizational goals working through multi-disciplinary teams. Ms. Trumble possesses expertise in value-based care and creates the infrastructure, programs, and information needed to drive performance. She is known as a supportive and empathetic leader, empowering teams to excel by providing the direction and tools for their success.
Ms. Trumble is the President and CEO of the Southern New England Healthcare Organization (SoNE HEALTH), a clinically integrated network focused on population health. SoNE HEALTH provides population health management support to its network providers, with covered lives in Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid contracts. At SoNE HEALTH, Ms. Trumble successfully led the development of the organizational infrastructure and capacities (clinical and quality programs, governance and leadership structures, data, technology, and analytics) to drive success in value-based contracts which has saved health plans $144M over the past seven years. Additionally, she has developed strategic external partnerships: innovative Direct-to-Employer contracts, a Medicaid ACO partnership to turn around financial performance, and population health vendor relationships to provide state-of-the-art care to at-risk populations.
Prior to SoNE HEALTH, Ms. Trumble served in senior leadership roles at Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) and its Physician Organization (PO), a safety net health system of two hospitals, 450 physicians, and twenty ambulatory sites. From 2006-2008, she served as Vice President of Finance and Operations within the Physician Organization. She led a financial and operations turnaround stabilizing the PO’s fiscal health through multiple re-contracting efforts and establishing a Hospital/Physician Compact. After a brief departure, she was recruited to return to CHA in 2011 as Vice President of the new ACO; she was then promoted in 2016 to SVP for Population Health Management & ACO Performance. At CHA, she led the design, creation, and operations of the programs, partnerships, organizational structures, and innovative care models supporting population health. Her leadership resulted in $26M in surplus payments over eight years. In addition, she was asked to lead several high-profile and consequential system-wide strategic initiatives.
Before CHA, Ms. Trumble held financial and administrative leadership roles at North Shore Medical Center, Pratt Pediatric Associates (a Tufts affiliate), Berkshire Health Systems, and Commonwealth Health Management Services.
Outside of work, Ms. Trumble participates in professional organizations: MGMA, MHA, ACHE, and the Institute for Advancing Health Value. She is also involved in leading and shaping policy in several state-wide organizations: MassHealth policy and advisory committees, the Health Policy Commission, Connecticut Office of Health Strategies working groups, the Connecticut Health Council, and the Business Group on Health. Ms. Trumble frequently speaks on podcasts focused on the move to value-based healthcare, presents at conferences and public forums at the regional and national levels.
Ms. Trumble earned her Master of Science (MS) degree in Business Administration from Western New England University and her Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Business Administration and Accounting from North Adams State College.
